US Ring Size Chart

American ring sizes explained — from size 3 to 14, with full conversion to UK, EU, Japanese, and metric measurements.

The US ring sizing system uses numbers with half-size increments — typically ranging from size 3 to size 14 for most commercial purposes, with larger and smaller sizes available from specialist jewellers. The same system is used in Canada.

How the US Ring Size System Works

US ring sizes increase by increments of half a size. Each half-size step equals approximately 0.4mm in inside diameter (or roughly 1.27mm in circumference). The system is based on the inside circumference of the ring, standardised by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Average US Ring Sizes by Gender

  • Women: US size 6 (range: 5–7.5, with size 6 most common)
  • Men: US size 10 (range: 9–12, with size 10 most common)

How to Find Your US Ring Size

  1. 1
    Measure your finger circumference

Wrap a strip of paper around the base of your finger, mark where it overlaps, and measure in mm.

  2. 2
Find your circumference in the chart

Look up your mm measurement in the Circumference (mm) column above. Read the US size from the first column.

  3. 3
    Between sizes? Size up

If your measurement falls between two sizes, choose the larger US size.

Converting US to Other Systems

The most common conversions from US sizes:

  • US to UK: Use the chart — no formula exists. US 6 = UK L, US 7 = UK N, US 8 = UK P.
  • US to EU: US sizes don't map directly to EU. Use the chart — US 6 ≈ EU 51.5, US 7 ≈ EU 54.
  • US to mm: Inside diameter (mm) = (US size × 0.4) + 11.53. Note: this formula is approximate — use the chart for accuracy.
Shopping internationally? Always confirm which sizing system a retailer uses before ordering. Many international jewellers list sizes in multiple systems, but when in doubt, provide your inside diameter in mm — this is universally understood.
